Cody's First Soccer Game

Make an on-line slide show at www.OneTrueMedia.com

It was a little bit warmer and not raining for Cody's first soccer game. We had only had three practices and no coach at first (one of the parents stepped up and volunteered), so I really didn't think he would understand what to do. I was trying to give him a crash course in soccer on the sidelines and he told me, "Mama, I know how to play soccer". I was so surprised when he got out to play, turned the ball around from the other team and scored his first goal!! Yay, Cody! He ended up scoring another goal before the game was up and now I know that he really does know how to play soccer.

Rainy Day Soccer

We had our first soccer practice in the rain. They had warned us at the parent's meeting that rain wouldn't interfere with practices or games, and they meant it. Our coach at first thought we would have a really quick practice since not all the kids were there, but soon everybody came and we practiced the full 45 minutes in the rain--cold rain. Most everybody else was fine with it, but we were cold, wet and feeling pretty wimpy. Cody was a real trooper and didn't complain once. Afterward we got hot chocolate and it was just the thing we needed.

Making Playdough

One day we worked hard to get school done...well most of it anyway. We dropped Baylee off at gymnastics and I was looking forward to some time to catch up on things. Cody was bored, so I was scrambling for ideas of things for him to do and thought about playdough. I looked in the drawer and all of our playdough was gone. So I decided we would make our own. I was getting out the ingredients and realized that we only had red and green food coloring. Well that was going to be tough, because Cody's favorite color is blue and he likes everything to be blue.
Then I remembered I had picked up some new neon colored food coloring the last time I was at the grocery store. I dug it out of the pantry and asked Cody which color we should use. One just wasn't going to be enough. He wanted all four. So, Cody did the mixing and I did the cooking and we had a lot of fun making four different colors of playdough. While he was playing, I stole some time on the computer and Sadie got ahold of some. I thought I got it all away, but I guess she swallowed some because a few minutes later, up it came.
Eventually, Cody decied to mix the colors together and made a huge "rainbow ball" as he called it. After a long time of playing and making lots of creations, Cody showed me the playdough ball and it was covered with dog hair. Apparently Sadie got it again and it dropped on the floor. I Guess it was time to vacuum.

Oops!

I accidentally deleted the soccer pictures and then did them again, but now they are at the top of my page. They went in front of the Seahawks pictures, so make sure you scroll down to see those.

Cody's first Day of Soccer

Cody was so excited and Baylee was so helpful and got him all dressed. Those shin guards are a bit tough to get on. Will was in Kentucky, so he missed it, but we had to take plenty of pictures for him to see. Poor Cody fell asleep on the way there, but as soon as I turned the car off he perked right up. Please excuse the blurry pictures. My camera was acting up.

Go Seahawks!!

Recently Will's unit did the flyover at the Seahawks' Opening Day Game. They flew three Chinook helicopters over the field after the National Anthem. Will and the kids were able to go down on the field before the game and the sidelines after the game started. How amazing!! Baylee said that it was really loud, but she thought it was really cool! Cody had a fun time and then fell asleep. Will was so excited! It was his first game since we went to a Miami Dolphins game years ago--before kids. He also had a Re-enlistment ceremony for a soldier on the field and the flag you see was the soldier's grandfather's from World War II. The kids got to eat hot dogs-with buns (not something they usually get) and caramel popcorn. It was a wonderful day and now we are all Seahawks fans.

Thank you!!

Thank you to all of you who wrote such positive comments to me. It was a difficult decision to start this blog, but now I am so glad that I did. Thanks for your encouragement, especially from my Dad and all of my old Alabama friends. I have so much more to post, but it's been busy lately. Stay tuned.

First Day of School

Well, nobody was very excited about the first day of school. We had such a fun summer and it was difficult getting back into the groove, but we started slowly and here we are on our way to gymnastics. Baylee is now going to a special team time for homeschoolers from 11-3 Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It's a little bit tricky because we have to do some school before and some after, but now we get to have her home with us for dinner. We like it!

Just Because...

I have decided to do a blog after weeks of viewing Amy's and loving to read about the things that are going on in her life. There are also so many wonderful pictures of the kids and we miss them so much. I want to keep track of what is going on in our lives for my own sake and to be able to share it with family and friends who seem so far away right now.
