Moving Day

Moving seems to get harder and harder each time. It so busy and there are so many things to take care of that we all seem to be just going and going until it's over. The months before we were trying so hard to sell our house, then rent it out. We spent hours cleaning, staging, touching up, and advertising. Then, finally we were so happy to have renters!! We went through the relocation process at Ft. Lewis, finished sprucing up the house, made arrangements to stop utilities, transferred billing information, had our last goodbyes with friends and then the packers came.

This time it took the longest it has ever taken. Four days. On the last day, when they were putting everything on the truck, it hit me. Wow! There was everything we own going across the country. This time, we weren't sure how long it would be before we would see it again. What if the truck was in an accident on the way? What if it blew up with our whole house inside?

It also hit me that this was real!! And even though we didn't particularly enjoy the weather in Washington, or the less friendly people, we had made some very good friends and had a lot of good times there. It had become home. The weather was beautiful now and I had almost forgotten about all the rainy, dreariness. As I filmed the truck going away, I began to tear up. It had been an amazing experience for all of us, that we will always be grateful for.
